The EHS&T Technical Services Director maintains leadership of the EHS&T Technical Services group. The role directs activities to ensure that programs and process are in place for efficient and effective achievement of company objectives as related to EHS&T activities. Identifies deficiencies in programs and practices and develop strategies to correct those deficiencies. Works as a member of Safety/Training management team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Selection, development, training, and mentoring of direct reports.
  • Development of processes and systems to improve EHS&T performance.
  • Identifying deficiencies and opportunities for improvement in EHS&T systems and developing strategies for resolution.
  • Work closely with EHS&T and executive leadership in achieving company EHS&T objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and industry regulations.
  • Create, develop, and improve working relationship between, external agencies, and internal departments such, Operations, Engineering, Commercial, Legal, and others.
  • Set and achieve departmental goals that support and meet the expectations of executive management.
  • Develop, monitor, and achieve departmental expense and capital budgets.
  • Participation in industry associations as appropriate.
  • Will work closely with regional management, internal groups such as Operations, Engineering, EHS&T, Commercial, Legal, and others. Will work with regulatory agencies, contractors, and industry associations.
  • Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety, Environmental or other relevant technical field is required. Extensive experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience at the manager level or above in the energy industry or heavy industry is required.
  • 10 or more years of midstream or downstream experience is preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills of safety professionals or related groups in the energy industry are required.
  • Proven leadership skills in the areas of communication, organization, influencing, and conflict resolution are required.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and influence various individuals and groups across organizational lines is required.
  • Proven ability to evaluate issues, define requirements, and implement action plans to accomplish organizational goals is required.
  • Working knowledge of midstream energy industry facilities such as pipelines (gas, liquids, natural gas liquids), pump and compressor stations, gas and liquid measurement facilities, above and below ground storage, liquid terminals, gas processing facilities, or natural gas liquids fractionation is preferred.
  • Proven organizational skills and abilities are required.
  • Mobility to walk and access field assets and ROW is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% is required.
